The sewage water of the Railway Loco Colony will be recycled to be re-used for cleaning purpose at Khurda Road Railway station and for watering the garden of the circulating area.
03th Jan, 2025 (Odisha Tazanews) jatani :-> The renovated water recycling plant at Loco Colony, Khurda Road was inaugurated by Shri H.S.Bajwa, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road. The plant will recycle the sewage water of the railway colony and nearby areas. After recycling, water will be collected in a tank and then transported through pipes to Khurda Road Railway station, which will be further used to clean the platforms of station and for watering the garden of the station circulating area. The plant can recycle 5 lakh litres of water per day.
The recycling water and wastewater has a positive impact on the environment as it reduces dependence on freshwater supplies and further reduces the amount of wastewater released into the environment. The old recycling plant was renovated with new motors and machineries and a system to collect the sludge in the form of cakes, from the sewage water. This sludge can further be used as fertilizer to improve the fertility of the soil of the area.
The circulating area of the recycling plant has been developed into a garden. During the occasion, saplings were planted by Shri H.S.Bajwa, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road, Shri P.K.Behera, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operation) along with other branch officers.
The renovation of recycling plant Loco colony, Khurda Road is an initiative of Environment and Housekeeping management (EnHM) wing of Mechanical department led by Shri Lingaraj Tripathy, Sr.Divisional Mechanical engineer and Smt Swadhinata Das, Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Khurda Road.
