Pune (Odisha Tazanews) Pune :-> The sparks of firecrackers during the Diwali celebrations ignited a spark of danger along with joy. A total of 68 fire incidents have been reported in various parts of the city in the last four days. Fortunately, there were no casualties, according to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s fire department.
Sparks from firecrackers ignited grass, garbage and obstacles Diwali celebrations were going on from Narak Chaturdashi to Bhaubij. Especially on the day of Lakshmi Puja, fires broke out at 42 places after evening. Most of the fires were minor and were found to have started in grass, bushes, garbage in the society area or obstacles lying in open spaces.
At some places, sparks from firecrackers ignited curtains in galleries, plastic covers on vehicles and obstacles placed there. Fires were reported in Fursungi, Kharadi, Koregaon Park, Bhavani Peth, Nana Peth, Tingrenagar, Baner, Market Yard, Katraj, Dhanori, Yerawada and Hadapsar.
Fire brigade rushed immediately A firecracker fell on the tenth floor of a high-rise building in Fursungi area of Hadapsar, causing a fire in the gallery curtain. The fire brigade rushed to the spot within minutes and brought the fire under control. A similar incident took place in the Gera Society area of Kharadi, while a grass fire near the Hadapsar railway was also extinguished in time.
A major disaster was averted due to the swift and prompt action of the officers and personnel of the force under the guidance of Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode. The fire department has appealed to the citizens to maintain a safe distance while bursting crackers and not to burst crackers in open spaces or in obstacles, so that such accidents can be avoided.
