ASSETS WORTH OVER RS.3.5 CRORES INCLUDING 1 FOUR STOREYED BUILDING, 8 PLOTS IN BHUBANESWAR, KHURDHA AND NAYAGARH, BANK DEPOSITS WORTH RS.78.80 LAKHS, CASH OVER RS.1.75 LAKH, 1 FOUR WHEELER, ETC. UNEARTHED IN HOUSE SEARCH OF SUBINSPECTOR OF POLICE, TAMANDO PS, UPD BHUBANESWAR.
On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches have been launched on the properties and location connected to Sri Abhimanyu Choudhury, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police, Tamando PS, UPD Bhubaneswar today i.e. on 15.12.2022 at 3 places in Bhubaneswar and Nayagarh i.e;
1) One four storeyed building over Plot No.361/901, Paiknagar,
Bhubaneswar.
2) One single storeyed building at his native village Nachhipur, PS-Ranpur,
Dist-Nayagarh.
3) Office room at Tomando Police Station. 3 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 3 DSPs, 11 Inspectors, 6 ASIs and other staff are conducting the search on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
During searches so far, the following movable and immovable assetsworth over Rs.3.5 Crores have been unearthed in the name of Sri Abhimanyu Choudhury, SI of Police and his family members;
1) One four storeyed building over Plot No.361/901, Khata No.184/149, Mouza-Bhubaneswar Sahar Unit-18, Paiknagar, Bhubaneswar with about 10,000 sqft built up area worth over Rs.1.5 Crores. The building has 29 rooms, out of which 25 are given on rent to business establishments and students. (Picture given below). Vigilance Technical Wing is carrying out detailed measurement and valuation of above building.
2) One single storeyed building at Nachhipur, PS-Ranpur, Dist-Nayagarh worth Rs.6.22 Lakh.
3) 8 plots including 7 plots in prime area in and around Bhubaneswar and
1 plot in Nichhipur, Dist-Nayagarh. The Registered Sale Deed (RSD) value comes to about Rs.90 Lakhs. However, the actual value is likely to be much higher. Undervaluation of the plots during registration is suspected. A thorough probe has been initiated in this regard.
4) Bank deposits worth Rs.78.80 Lakhs.
5) Cash over Rs.1.75 Lakh.
6) 1 four wheeler (Maruti Dzire VXI) worth Rs.6.95 Lakhs.
7) 3 two wheelers (Hero Glamour FI, Honda Dream Neo & Hero Destiny 125) worth Rs.1.89 Lakhs.
8) Gold & silver ornaments and household articles etc. worth Rs.15.90 Lakhs.
Sri Abhimanyu Choudhury, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police, Tamando PS, UPD Bhubaneswar is being examined to ascertain the source of the assets. Further searches are continuing. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is
likely to increase.

II) FURTHER UPDATES: SHRI PRITIVIRAJ MANDAL, TAHASILDAR-CUMSUB-REGISTRAR, BEGUNIA, DIST- KHURDHA, ARRESTED BY ODISHA
VIGILANCE.
On 14.12.2022 at 7.15 P.M., Shri Pritiviraj Mandal, Tahasildar-cum-SubRegistrar, Begunia, Dist-Khurdha was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.45,000/-(Rupees Forty-five Thousand)
from the complainant for issuance of conversion patta. On 14.12.2022, accused Shri Pritiviraj Mandal called the complainant to Begunia at 4pm with the demanded amount. Accordingly, the Vigilance team reached Begunia to lay a trap.
However, at 4.30 P.M., accused Shri Mandal directed the complainant to reach Khurdha with the bribe money. Accordingly, the complainant reached Khurdha and the Vigilance team too proceeded to Khurdha. At Khurdha, accused Shri Mandal came and boarded the car of the complainant and asked him to proceed to Kalinga Vihar, Bhubaneswar. The Vigilance team that was closely monitoring the movement, immediately followed the car of the complainant.
On the car, accused Shri Mandal demanded and accepted the bribe amount from the complainant. However, on his alighting at Bhubaneswar, the Vigilance team that was following him, rushed to the spot and searched and recovered the bribe amount of Rs 45,000/- from the possession of accused Shri Mandal. In this connection, Vigilance Cell P.S. Case No. 09 dated 13.12.2022 U/s 7 P.C. Act. 1988 as amended by P.C. (Amendment) Act. 2018 was registered and is
under investigation.
Following the trap, seizure of tainted bribe amount of
Rs. 45,000/-, simultaneous searches at the rented residential house located at HIG236, Kalinga Vihar-K/5, Bhubaneswar-19, official residence located at Begunia Tahasil, office chamber and the native house located at Tumudibandha of Kandhamal district of Shri Mandal were conducted. Accused Shri Pritiviraj Mandal has been arrested on 15.12.2022 and will be forwarded to the Hon’ble Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar
