Pune (Odisha Tazanews) Pune :- A major development has taken place in the case of the death of a husband and wife after a liver transplant surgery at Sahyadri Hospital in Deccan. The high-level inquiry committee formed in this case will visit the hospital tomorrow (25) and conduct an inquiry.
Bapu Komkar died on August 15, while his wife Kamini Komkar, who donated the liver, passed away on August 22. After this unfortunate incident, relatives accused the hospital of negligence. After that, the state government formed a high-level committee and started the investigation.
Dr. Mohammed Rela, president of the International Liver Transplant Society in Chennai and a liver transplant expert, has been appointed as the chairman of this committee. Dr. Bhagwan Pawar, Deputy Director of Health Services, is the member secretary, and the committee includes Dr. Ram Prabhu, Dr. Rahul Pandit, Dr. Vasant Nagvekar, Dr. Vijay Vora, Dr. Akash Shukla and Dr. Padmasen Ranbagle.
The first meeting of the committee was held on August 29 through video conferencing. At that time, the medical reports submitted by the hospital were examined and the outline of the further investigation was decided. Now the committee will visit the hospital in person and inspect the surgical reports, treatment procedures and related documents.
All transplant surgeries at Sahyadri Hospital have been suspended until the investigation is completed. The Public Health Department and the Municipal Corporation’s Health Department have also issued a notice to the hospital.
“The committee will conduct a physical inspection and complete the investigation. The report will be submitted to the government by the end of this month,” Dr. Bhagwan Pawar explained.
