14 Nov 2024 (Odisha Tazanews) Pune :-> Robotic technology has increased precision in surgeries, saving both time and cost. The use of robotic surgery in private hospitals is increasing, and now the surgery department of Sassoon Hospital will also have a robot. Sassoon has become the first government medical college in the state to purchase an Indian-made robot. Robotic surgeries have gained special importance due to the precision and painlessness of the technology.
At present, robots are being widely used in private hospitals, mainly in joint replacement surgeries. Now hernia, gall bladder, stomach problems, as well as gynecological surgeries are also being done with the help of robotic technology. In February last year, Sassoon Hospital successfully performed the first surgery using the robotic arm on an experimental basis .
Now Sassoon Hospital has taken the next step in the use of robotic technology . Various experiments are underway for robotic surgery across the country. However, as robotic surgery is very expensive, private hospitals incur lakhs of rupees, which are unaffordable for poor patients. Therefore, robotic surgery at Sassoon Hospital is going to be a boon for patients .
Dr. Eknath Pawar, Founder, Sassoon Sarvopachar Hospital: “Robotic surgeries will be available for patients in the next one-two months. The Indian-made robot will be commissioned after special training for doctors, which will greatly benefit patients.” Dr. Anant Bidkar, Head of Surgery : “Robotic surgery is a state-of-the-art technique, controlled by a surgeon sitting at a computer console. The robotic system allows 3 to 5 arms to operate simultaneously under surgeon control very efficiently .”
