Pune (Odisha Tazanews) Pune :- In the wake of increasing attacks on lawyers across the state, lawyers staged a protest outside the court in Pune today demanding immediate implementation of the Lawyer Protection Act. The lawyers displayed placards with slogans like ‘If a lawyer is saved, justice will be saved’, ‘Lawyer protection is the right to be obtained’, ‘Lawyer safe, country safe’, ‘Our aspiration – the protection act should be implemented’.
During this protest, the lawyers wore red ribbons and participated in court proceedings. The appeal of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa to support the demand for the Lawyer Protection Act received a spontaneous response from various lawyer associations in the city.
In this protest, Pune Bar Association President Adv. Hemant Zanjad, member Poonam Mavani, Secretary of Lawyers Consumers Co-operative Society Vikas Kamble, former chairman Pandurang Dhore Patil, Rani Kamble-Sonavane, Ajinkya Mirgal, Amey Balkawade, Rakesh Sonar, Rakesh Uttekar, Ibrahim Sheikh, Nilesh Waghmode, Akash Musale, Rohan Athawale, Akash Kamthe, Akshay Shitole, Umesh Manjre, Kantaram Napte, Samrat Jambhulkar etc. were present along with a large number of lawyers.
The demand for immediate implementation of the law has become more intense due to the attacks on lawyers in various parts of the state in the past few days. The need for the law has been highlighted as some lawyers have lost their lives in these attacks.
Although the draft of the Lawyers Protection Act has been handed over to the Advocate General, it has not been implemented yet. Therefore, the lawyers strongly demanded that the government take a decision on this as soon as possible through this protest.
