The match began on a strong technical note for the Kalinga Warriors, who were resolute in defence. Meanwhile, Mohammedan FC pressed forward in search of an early breakthrough, but Odisha FC’s goalkeeper Amrinder Singh made a routine yet crucial save to deny them the chance to take the lead. However, Odisha FC failed to register a shot on target in the first half.
The first half ended with no major chances for Odisha FC. Mohammedan SC had their moments, including a threatening counterattack brilliantly intercepted by Mourtada Fall in the 34th minute to deny Franco an open chance. An early yellow card for Mirjalol Kasimov and an injury substitution with César Manzoki replacing França added to the drama, but both defenses held firm.
The Kalinga Warriors came out with more intent in the second half, with a promising opportunity as Diego’s shot from outside the box was blocked by the hosts. In the 59th minute, Rahim Ali nearly set up Isak with a precise pass, but Zuidika stepped in to intercept. In the 69th minute, Diego’s curling effort was expertly pushed away by Mohammedan’s goalkeeper Padam Chettri.
In the dying moments, Hugo delivered a stunning free-kick into the box, finding Diego, whose header sailed over the bar. Shortly after, Amrinder made a crucial save, pushing away Kasimov’s long-range strike. Following the draw, Odisha FC climbed up to 4th in the league table with 20 points, level with Mumbai City. The team returns home to face FC Goa on January 4, 2025, with kickoff scheduled for 5 PM IST.
