Promote Energy Conservation and Sustainable Lifestyles
Bhubaneswar (Odisha Tazanews) :- The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, organised the Influencers’ Conclave – East Region (Extended) 2026 on 17 October 2026 at Mayfair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The conclave, held as a precursor to the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2026, brought together digital content creators and social media influencers to strengthen public awareness about energy efficiency, energy conservation and sustainable lifestyles.
Addressing participants, BEE Director General Shri Krushna Chandra Panigrahy emphasised the role of public participation and digital media in encouraging responsible energy use and promoting practical energy-saving habits. The conclave highlighted five key themes for NECA 2026: switching to induction cooking which is promoting cleaner and energy-efficient cooking choices, setting air conditioners at 24°C or above to encouraging responsible cooling practices and energy-efficient use of air conditioners, choosing energy-efficient appliances, making smart energy choices in everyday life, and promoting electric vehicles and sustainable mobility.
The Director General urged the creator community to communicate practical energy conservation messages, including saving electricity at home, choosing five-star-rated appliances and using energy judiciously. He also highlighted the introduction of a dedicated category for Social Media Influencers and Content Creators under NECA in 2025. The category was established to recognise and encourage efforts to promote energy conservation through digital platforms.
The programme featured presentations on NECA, interactive activities, a demonstration of the registration portal, discussions and influencer felicitation. Through this initiative, BEE aims to encourage creators to communicate energy conservation messages in regional languages and through engaging digital content, in alignment with the vision of Mission LiFE. The 36th National Energy Conservation Awards will be held on 14 December 2026, marking National Energy Conservation Day.
