14th Feb, 2025 (Odisha Tazanews) Pune :-> The proposal for the Yerawada to Katraj subway has been given momentum to speed up the city’s transportation. This 20-kilometer-long route will be built at a cost of about Rs 8,000 crore. The cost of this project is expected to be Rs 400 crore per kilometer. A detailed project report (DPR) of this subway will be prepared and submitted to the state government. In a meeting of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed to submit this proposal immediately.
This subway will be given a ‘twin tunnel’ space and modern technology will be used . An important route for north-south transportation Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale said, “There are many roads connecting the east to the west in Pune city; however, the number of roads connecting the north-south is less. Therefore, the PMRDA has proposed this route. This work will be inspected and a detailed study will be conducted and a report will be submitted after that.”
Experience of previous plans and doubts among citizens The proposed Pune-Mumbai Hyperloop and Pune river waterway projects could not be implemented. Therefore, doubts are being expressed by citizens whether the proposal for the Yerawada to Katraj subway will come true or not. Now the attention of Punekars is focused on whether this proposal will be implemented .
