I ) ASSETS WORTH CRORES INCLUDING 1 TRIPLE STOREYED BUILDING, 1 FLAT, BANK & INSURANCE DEPOSITS WORTH OVER RS.1.46 CRORE, 1 FOUR WHEELER, ETC. UNEARTHED IN HOUSE SEARCH OF ASST.

BHUBANESWAR. On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches have been launched on the properties of Sri Manas Ranjan Samal, Asst. Engineer, GPH Division-I, Bhubaneswar today i.e. on 10.10.2022 at 7 places in Cuttack,
Khurdha & Jagatsinghpur districts i.e :-
1) One triple storeyed building located over plot No E/121, Sector-7, CDA, Cuttack. 2) One flat vide No. 206-B, Floor-B Block, Srusti Plaza, Kantilo, Jatani. 3) Single storeyed building over parental land located at Champatipatna, Salipur, Dist-Cuttack. 4) Residential house of his associate located at Champatipatna, Salipur, Dist-Cuttack. 5) House of his relative at Gandikapur, near Kujanga, Dist. Jagatsinghpur. 6) House constructed at Municipal colony single quarter No.2, Jobra, Cuttack. 7) Office chamber at GPH Division-1,
Bhubaneswar. 7 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 3 DSPs, 11 Inspectors, 2 Sub- Inspectors, 5 ASIs and other staff are conducting the search on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. During house searches so far, the following movable and immovable assets worth Crores have been unearthed in the name of Sri Manas Ranjan Samal,
Asst. Engineer and his family members :-
1) One triple storeyed building over plot No.E/121, Sector-7, CDA, Cuttack. (Picture given below). 2) One flat vide No. 206-B, Floor-B Block, Srusti Plaza, Kantilo, Jatani worth Rs.22.76 Lakhs. 3) Single storeyed building over parental land located at Champatipatna, Salipur, Dist-Cuttack. Vigilance Technical Wing is carrying out detailed measurement of above buildings and valuation may increase further. 4) 2 numbers of plots in Phulanakhara, Cuttack & Naranagada, Khurdha. Undervaluation is suspected during registration. 5) Bank & Insurance deposits worth over Rs.1.46 Crore. 6) Cash Rs.54,047/-. 7) 1 four wheeler (Hyundai Verna) worth Rs.12.64 Lakhs. 8) 4 two wheelers worth over Rs.2.61 Lakhs. 9) Gold worth over Rs.3.04 Lakhs. 10) Household articles worth over Rs.5.34 Lakh.
Sri Manas Ranjan Samal, Asst. Engineer is being examined to ascertain source of the assets. Further searches are continuing. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase. Enquiry is in progress.
II) SOIL CONSERVATION OVERSEER, BISOI BLOCK, DIST-MAYURBHANJ ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE WHILE ACCEPTING RS 22,000/- BRIBE FOR PROCESSING MUSTER ROLL OF LABOURERS UNDER MGNREG SCHEME.
Today i.e., on 10.10.2022, Sri Kishore Kumar Behera, Soil Conservation Overseer, Bisoi Block, Dist-Mayurbhanj has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.22,000/- (Rupees Twenty-two Thousand) from a complainant for processing muster roll of labourers engaged in execution of farm ponds under MGNREG Scheme. Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 10.10.2022, wherein accused Sri Kishore Kumar Behera, Soil Conservation Overseer was caught by a team of Odisha Vigilance near Medical road Bisoi,
Mayuurbhanj while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.22,000/- (Rupees Twenty-two Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Behera and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Behera gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Sri Behera at Bisoi, Mayurbhanj,
house at native village Dhusuri, Dist-Bhadrak and his office room in office of APD, Watershed, Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj. Accused Sri Kishore Kumar Behera, Soil Conservation Overseer has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.30 dated 9.10.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
III) DISTRICT EMPLOYMENT OFFICER, DIST-JAJPUR AND JUNIOR CLERK ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE WHILE ACCEPTING RS 12,600/- BRIBE TOWARDS HIRING AND FUEL COST OF VEHICLE FOR OFFICIAL PURPOSE.
Today i.e., on 10.10.2022, Sri Tapas Kumar Swain, District Employment Officer (DEO), Dist-Jajpur has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.12,600/- (Rupees Twelve Thousand Six Hundred) through Sri Jitendra Kumar Sethy, Junior Clerk of his office, from a complainant (driver of vehicle) towards hiring and fuel cost of vehicle engaged for official purpose in his office.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 10.10.2022, wherein accused Sri Tapas Kumar Swain, DEO and Sri Jitendra Kumar Sethy, Junior Clerk were caught by a team of Odisha Vigilance in District Employment Office, Jajpur while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.12,600/- (Rupees Twelve Thousand Six Hundred) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Sethy, Jr. Clerk and seized in presence of witnesses.
Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Sethy gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Sri Swain at Flat No.B-204, Kamal Vihar, Palasuni, Bhubaneswar, double storeyed building at K-4, 1417, Patrapada,
Bhubaneswar and house at native village Athantara, PS-Niali, Dist- Cuttack. Both the accused persons Sri Tapas Kumar Swain, DEO and Sri Jitendra Kumar Sethy, Junior Clerk have been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.47 dated 9.10.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
