Dhamra (Odisha Tazanews) Bhadrak :- Access to quality eye care in rural Odisha has become easier, thanks to Adani Foundation’s Vision Care Programme. The initiative has benefited over 18,000 people in Dhamra, Bhadrak district, including school-going children, women, senior citizens, and truck drivers. Among the beneficiaries is 47-year-old Renuka Bhuyan from Dhamra, who struggled with poor eyesight for years.
With the Foundation’s support, she received new spectacles and regained her confidence in managing daily life. Similarly, Satya Sourav Mohapatra, a 14-year-old student of Rambhila High School, overcame his vision problems and is now able to focus better in class. Launched in August 2024, the Vision Care Programme provides free eye screenings, spectacles, and referrals. Aligned with the National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCBVI), the initiative addresses the lack of awareness, infrastructure, and affordability in rural areas.
In Dhamra alone, the programme has screened over 12,800 students, 5,000 truck drivers, and 500 women. Nationwide, the initiative has conducted over 1,17,000 screenings across 11 states. Since 1996, Adani Foundation — the CSR arm of the Adani Group — has been committed to social development in education, healthcare, and livelihoods, reaching 9.1 million lives across 19 states and 6,769 villages in India.
