22nd October,2024 (Odisha Tazanews) Bhubaneswar :-> Odisha FC continued their unbeaten streak, after securing a 2-1 victory against East Bengal FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 on Tuesday. The goals for Odisha FC came from Roy Krishna (22’) and Mourtada Fall (69’), while Dimitrios Diamantakos scored a penalty for East Bengal FC( 45+4’). East Bengal’s Provat Lakra received a red card (76’).
Odisha FC entered the international break determined to maintain their unbeaten streak. Early in the match, in the 2nd minute, Odisha attempted an attack with Roy Krishna, but he was flagged offside. Soon after, East Bengal won a free kick, with Madih Talal delivering a well-placed cross that Saul Crespo headed into the net, only for the referee to disallow the goal for a foul.
The Kalinga Warriors broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute. Isak played a penetrating pass to Roy Krishna, who showed great composure to slot the ball past Gill, putting Odisha ahead. OFC 1-0 EBFC In the 37th minute, Jerry Lalrinzuala found Isak Ralte, who set up Krishna for a confident finish, but the goal was ruled offside.
Late in the second half, East Bengal found an equaliser in stoppage time. Talal received the ball inside the box and fired a shot, which was allegedly blocked by Thoiba’s hand, resulting in a penalty. Diamantakos confidently converted the spot-kick, placing it into the bottom right corner. HT: OFC 1-1 EBFC
In the 51st minute, Isak intercepted East Bengal’s counter and tried to send Boumous through, but Gill came off his line to collect. In the 60th minute, Roy Krishna came close to scoring again, but Anwar Ali and Hijazi Maher worked together to block the Fijian’s attempt.
In the 69th minute, Odisha FC doubled their lead when Jahouh’s superb free-kick found Fall at the far post and Fall headed the ball into the net. OFC 2-1 EBFC In the 76th minute, Provat Lakra received his second yellow card and was sent off for a reckless tackle on Jahouh.
In the 79th minute, Odisha FC made a double substitution, bringing on Carlos Delgado and Diego Mauricio while substituting off Hugo Boumous and Roy Krishna. Following their victory, Odisha FC will travel to Mumbai on October 27th to face Mumbai City FC, with the match scheduled to kick off at 7:30 PM.
