ODISHA VIGILANCE WHILE ACCEPTING RS.50,000/- BRIBE.
FURTHER, CASH RS.4,39,000/- DURING HOUSE SEARCH AT
BOLANGIR.
12th July , 2024 (odisha Tazanews) Bolangir :-> Sri G. Prabhakara Patro, Chief Civil Supplies Officer(CCSO), Bolangir has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.50,000/-(Rupees Fifty Thousand) from a Complainant for clearing his pending bills as well as in lieu of placement of new order. Earlier, Sri Patro, had demanded and taken bribe of Rs.1,30,000/- from the complainant few days back. Today, Sri Patro, while accepting the rest amount of bribe (Rs.50,000/-) was nabbed by the team of Odisha Vigilance. Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 12.07.2024, wherein the accused Sri G. Prabhakara Patro, CCSO was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in his office room for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.50,000/-(Rupees Fifty Thousand) from the complainant.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Patra and seized in presence of witnesses. Left hand wash of Sri Patra gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on properties linked to Sri Patra at the following places. 1) Flat No 22 & 23, Surya Enclave, Suryanagar, Bhubaneswa. 2) Market Complex at Balipadar, Buguda, Ganjam. 3) Rented residential house at Flat No-2/14, Silicon Valley, Bolangir. During house search at Bolangir, further cash of Rs.4,39,000/- along with approx. 260 gms gold was unearthed. Accused Sri G. Prabhakara Patro, CCSO has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.16 dated 11.07.2024 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation. II) EX-JUNIOR ENGINEER, NUAPADA BLOCK, DIST- NUAPADA CONVICTED IN DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS (DA) CASE. Today i.e. on 12.07.2024, Sri Kamdev Dip, Ex-Junior Engineer (Dismissed from Service), who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Sambalpur Vigilance PS case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act,
1988/109 IPC for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 234% of his known sources of income, was convicted by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs.1 Lakh and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988. Sri Maheswar Sethi, Ex-DSP, Vigilance, Sambalpur Division had investigated the case and Sri Jaykrishna Sahu, SPl. P.P., Vigilance, Bolangir conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
III) FOREST WING OF ODISHA VIGILANCE SEIZES 186 CFT OF VALUABLE TIMBER. Today i.e. on 12.07.2024, on receipt of reliable information regarding running of one illegal furniture unit at village-Dasarathpur, PS- Dasarathpur, Dist- Jajpur, a joint forest raid was conducted by the Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance. During the raid, 18 pieces of valuable timber were detected and seized. It was ascertained that the above furniture unit was running without any valid license.
In one more operation today, a joint forest raid was conducted after getting secret information regarding illegal trading of timber, 44 pieces of valuable timber were detected near village Rachhipur and Aradapal village under PS Kaliapani, Dist. Jajpur and seized. In total, volume of seized timbers comes to 186.06 CFT. In this connection, three forest cases vide OR Case No. 32JR of 2024/25 in Jajpur Road Range, UD Case No.6SK of 2024-25 in Sukinda Forest Range and UD Case No.1JR of 2024-25 in Jajpur Road Range respectively under Cuttack Forest Division have been registered and are under investigation.
