Nine Departments Unite at 2nd DLCC Meeting in Puri to Strengthen Climate-Resilient Livelihoods and Women-Led Agriculture

Puri (Odisha Tazanews) :- The 2nd District Level Convergence Committee (DLCC) Meeting under the Localizing Data Science for Climate Change Adaptation (LDSCCA) project was held at the CDAO Conference Hall, Puri, under the chairmanship of Chief District Agriculture Officer (CDAO) Shri Chandramohan Chand.

The quarterly convergence meeting was organized as a follow-up proceeding of the 1st DLCC meeting to review programme progress, assess convergence outcomes, and jointly plan the action roadmap for the next quarter (May–July 2026).Representatives from Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Veterinary, Irrigation, Soil Conservation, Odisha Livelihoods Mission (OLM), Forest Department,

District Social Welfare Office (DSWO), and Krishi Vigyan Kendra participated in the meeting along with technical agencies, programme stakeholders, and implementing partners. Farmers associated with the programme also shared their field experiences, learnings, and benefits from convergence-linked schemes such as Integrated Farming System (IFS), Mukhya mantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY), farm pond development, and climate-resilient agriculture interventions.

The programme progress from January to April 2026 was presented during the meeting, highlighting that the initiative has reached more than 500 farmer households across 17 villages, with over 250 women farmers actively participating in climate-resilient agriculture and livelihood interventions. Around 207 acres have been brought under climate-resilient cultivation through promotion of paddy cultivation using SRI and improved agronomic practices, pulse cultivation, millet farming,

commercial vegetable cultivation, and Integrated Farming System models. Livelihood and enterprise interventions such as dairy farming, broiler farming under MKUY, mushroom cultivation, vermicompost promotion, and rooftop solar initiatives were also implemented through convergence with multiple departments, mobilizing more than ₹43 lakh in institutional support and resources.

During the deliberations, the quarterly convergence action plan for May–July 2026 was formally endorsed by all participating departments. Department-wise targets, timelines, and responsibilities were discussed and finalized during the open house session to strengthen coordinated implementation at the Gram Panchayat level.

The meeting was organized by Humara Bachpan Trust, the implementing agency of the Localizing Data Science for Climate Change Adaptation initiative in Gop Block of Puri district. The initiative is a joint programme of UNDP India and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).

The project addresses a critical gap in India’s climate response ecosystem by translating nationally generated climate information into localized and actionable insights that farmers, planners, and local institutions can effectively use for real-time climate adaptation and resilient livelihood planning.
