24th May, 2023 (Odisha Tazanews) Bhubaneswar :- 61st Foundation Day of Odisha Construction Corporation Limited (OCCL) has been held on 22th May, 2023(Monday) in a venue at Bhubaneswar. Hon’ble Minister, Water Resources, Commerce & Transport, Smt. Tukuni Sahu graced the programme as the Chief Guest of the occasion. Addressing the members of Board of Directors of OCCL, Senior Officers & Engineers of DoWR, Managers of the corporation from different zones and all those associated with OCCL present in the programme, Hon’ble Minister said that OCCL since its inception on 22th May 1962 by the then Chief Minister of Odisha, legendary Biju Patnaik has now proved its excellence by making a significant contribution to the development of Odisha.
“Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik, who has taken forward the development trend of Odisha since 22 years, has always called upon to work with determination on availability of water for agriculture and drinking purpose. OCCL through its team efforts and application of technology on the basis of ‘5-T’ initiatives of State Government should focus on completing its ongoing projects within stipulated time to gain more trust and confidence from public.” Hon’ble Minister said.
Attending in the function as Special Guest, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, DoWR, Odisha and Chairperson, OCCL Smt. Anu Garg,IAS, said that this institution is carrying out various construction works of different departments of the State government including the Department of Water Resources. But more works are being done by the OCC for DoWR. It is a matter of happiness that OCCL is preparing a Vision Document in view of the development of Odisha by 2036 for 100 years of formation of the Odisha State and 100th year celebration of country’s Independence in 2047. Transformation works are being fostered ahead in our State in different sectors. OCCL should continue to earn reputation as the best institution in the field of construction by maintaining the quality of its work.” Smt. Garg added. Shri Bhaktaranjan Mohanty, EIC, DoWR was also present on the occasion.
At the outset, MD, OCC, Mr. Bibhuti Bhushan Dash read out the report of OCCL in detail various important construction activities carried out during the 61-years journey of the corporation. Shri Dash informed about the outstanding works of OCCL including Balimela Power House, Upper Kolab Power House and Tunnel, Indravati Penstocks, Indravati Canals, Hati Barrage, Mahanadi Barrage, HALTownship at Sunabeda, Rengali Canal Systems, Rengali Dam and Power House etc. He also spoke about ongoing construction works of Lower Suktel Project, Kanupur Irrigation Project, Ghatakeshwar Multipurpose project, Chheligarh Tunnel etc. being carried out by OCC and have been expedited to be completed by this year. MD, OCC Mr. Dash also said that this corporation will continue its work with all dedication and commitment for the development of the State and the country.
On this occasion, a brochure in connection with different construction activities being carried out by OCC and a publication on ’61 years of excellence and moving forward… ‘ was released. A Video documentary on success story of OCC was also screened on the occasion. On the eve of the celebration, Shri Dibakar Mishra, former EIC, DoWR and former Chairman of OCCL was felicitated for his outstanding contribution in the development of infrastructure in the Water Resources sector in the State. Among others, Chairman, OLIC Shri Amresh Patri, MD, OLIC Shri Sudhanshu Mohan Samal,FA-cum-CAO Shri Durga Prasad Dash,OCC were also present on the occasion. In the second session of the function, various Civil and Mechanical works of the OCCL were discussed in detail.
