The asst.ESI dispensary officer was caught by the vigilance for taking bribe

1th March,2024 (Odisha Tazanews) Rourkela :-> a short while ago, Sri Abhiram Sahu, Sr. Asst. ESI Dispensary, Rourkela, Dist-Sundargarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.10,000/- from a Complainant(injured in an accident) for processing his medical reimbursement claim under ESI Scheme. The complt. being a poor man had been repeatedly requesting accused Sri Sahu, Sr.Assistant to process his medical claim since long.

However, Sri Sahu was insisting the complt. to pay the demanded bribe of Rs.10,000/- to get his work done. But, complt. expressed his inability to pay the bribe and finding no other way, informed Vigilance Authority narrating his harassment by Sri Sahu. Accordingly, vigilance officials planned and trapped Sri Sahu today, while accepting demanded bribe from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of accused Sri Sahu.

Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sri Sahu from DA angle. In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case No.04 dt.28.02.2024, U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Sahu, Sr. Assistant. Detailed report follows.
