The 59th meeting of WODC was held today under the Chairmanship of Sri Asit Tripathy

Odisha Taza News (5.6.2022) Bhubaneswar :- The 59th meeting of Western Odisha, Development Council was held today under the Chairmanship of Sri Asit Tripathy. Before the commencement of meeting as per the agenda for discussion, condolence was offered on the sad & untimely demise of Kishore Mohanty, the sitting Hon’ble Member. Hon’ble MLAs and MP and RDC participated and reviewed the projects taken up in the 11 Districts of Western Odisha. Council appreciated the efforts of the WODC in getting more effective in its processes. The Council also appreciated the SOP prepared for the project implementation and for substitution proposals, thereby bringing a transformation in execution of works in an uniformly manner by the executing agencies.

This has systematized the process of scrutiny of the project proposals, according Administrative Approval, Sanctioning and release of funds in a timeliness. The Council also appreciated the efforts of WODC for taking the steps for viable big & iconic projects like the state of art modern Auditorium in each District Headquarters or at important towns. The District Administration have been encouraged to sponsor critical projects which are not covered under any State or Central Schemes. WODC has been successful in sponsoring unconventional projects sponsored by District Administration. The State Government’s Odisha State Workflow Automation System (OSWAS) has been implemented for processing of files to ensure faster decision making and to achieve transparency.

Deputy Director, Planning of concerned 11 WODC Districts have been made the OIC, WODC. District Offices have further been strengthened with engagement of DEO and a messenger with the logistic & required infrastructural support which has improved the evaluation and monitoring of quality of implementation of projects in the field. Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) of WODC has been activated with professional approach.

A Retired Engineer in Chief has been engaged as the Technical Consultant. Thrust is being given for approval of projects for execution in the field in the litigation free land with proper road connectivity, maintainable, sustainability, ownership, etc for the felt need projects. Eco opportunities & growth potentials of each District/area have been studied and concerted efforts are underway to strengthen handloom, weaving, designing, packaging and marketing.
