 OASME Celebrates 41st Foundation Day & Annual Convention 2026 in Bhubaneswar

 Convention highlighted Odisha’s growing MSME, manufacturing and startup ecosystem

Bhubaneswar (Odisha Tazanews) :- The Odisha Assembly of Small ‘Medium Enterprises (OASME) celebrated its 41 st Foundation Day and Annual Convention 2026 in Bhubaneswar, bringing together government representatives, industry leaders, entrepreneurs and stakeholders from the MSME and startup ecosystem.

Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by Shri Suresh Pujari, Hon’ble Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management; Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon’ble Minister of State, Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education;

Shri Hemant Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Home and I’PR Department, Government of Odisha; Rashmita Panda, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise Department Government of Odisha, and Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh is the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), and Gouri Shankar Dash,

The convention featured the release of the OASME Souvenir 2026 and the presentation of the OASME Awards 2026, recognising entrepreneurs and enterprises for their contribution to Odisha’s MSME sector. Awards were presented across several categories, including Best Medium Enterprise, Best Small Enterprise,

Best Micro Enterprise, Best Women Entrepreneur, Best Service Enterprise, Best Promising Young Entrepreneur and Best Mother Plant, among others. The Satya Swain Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Kahnu Charan Nayak, Managing Director, Subhashree Packers Pvt. Ltd., Tangi, Cuttack, for his pioneering contribution to Odisha’s packaging industry.

Mr. Nayak had established Odisha’s first Expanded Polystyrene manufacturing plant in 1987 and had contributed significantly to employment generation in the state. A key highlight of the event was the seminar on “Leveraging Odisha’s Emerging Ecosystem for Manufacturing Innovation and Startups – Vision 2036.”

The session brought together experts and industry leaders to discuss the opportunities for manufacturing innovation, entrepreneurship and startup development in Odisha. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, said, “MSMEs are the backbone of Odisha’s economic growth and play a vital role in generating employment, promoting entrepreneurship and strengthening local industries .

I commend OASME for its continued efforts towards supporting and recognising the contribution of MSMEs across the state. Such platforms are important for encouraging innovation, collaboration and sustainable industrial development as Odisha moves towards a stronger and more self-reliant economy.”

Speaking more on the occasion, he urged the banking sector to simplify credit accessibility for MSME ecosystem in Odisha by removing bottlenecks related to CIBIL score requirements ensuring smooth flow of credit to support MSMEs and enable their growth. Shri Gauri Sankar Dash, Chairman, OASME, mentioned,

“Odisha’s MSME sector has immense potential to drive employment, innovation and inclusive economic growth. The convention provided an important platform for bringing industry and government stakeholders together and strengthening the ecosystem for entrepreneurs and enterprises in the state.”

Mr. Satwik Swain, Secretary General (Hony), OASME, said, “The 41st Annual Convention was an opportunity to recognise the contribution of Odisha’s entrepreneurs while also looking ahead at the future of manufacturing, startups and MSMEs.

The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration in creating new opportunities for enterprises across Odisha.” The convention concluded with a renewed commitment towards empowering MSMEs and building a stronger, more sustainable industrial ecosystem in Odisha.
