Bhubaneswar (Odisha Tazanews) :- On the occasion of World Lupus Day 2026, Ankura Hospital for Women & Children, Bhubaneswar, organized a special awareness program for children affected by lupus and other autoimmune diseases along with their parents and caregivers. The event was led by Dr. Debasis Patro, Consultant Pediatric Rheumatologist, who emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, timely treatment, emotional support, and long-term care in managing childhood lupus.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks its own healthy tissues and organs. Childhood lupus is often more aggressive and, if not treated early, can affect the kidneys, growth, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life of children. More than 20 children affected by autoimmune diseases participated in the program along with their parents. Despite facing medical challenges, the children showcased remarkable confidence and talent through singing, dancing, artwork, and sharing their inspiring personal journeys.
One of the highlights of the event was the participation of young India Book of Records. Achiever Arnav Pattnaik from Bhubaneswar, who completed a round-trip motorcycle expedition from Noida to Khardung La Pass at the age of 18 and is also recognized for a 48-hour skating achievement . His story inspired everyone present and reflected the strength and determination of children battling chronic illnesses.
Parents emotionally shared their experiences, struggles, and hopes while interacting with specialists and other families, creating a supportive and encouraging environment. The program concluded with a strong message that lupus patients can lead normal and successful lives with early diagnosis, regular treatment, emotional support, and proper lifestyle management.
