Bhubaneswar (Odisha Tazanews) :- KIIT University has become the first in the country to introduce a specialised academic course in tyre technology, thus registering a significant milestone in India’s technical education landscape. The course is expected to immensely benefit students.
An MoU has been signed today between KIIT and Apollo Tyres Ltd, creating India’s first strategic academic collaboration between a university and a tyre manufacturer. Through this partnership, KIIT will offer a specialised bucket of electives covering tyre science, tyre design, manufacturing, testing, and sustainability — areas that have never before been integrated formally into an engineering curriculum in India.
Apollo Tyres will support the university in syllabus development, preparing study material, and aligning pedagogies with the latest industry trends. The company’s subject-matter experts will also deliver lectures, ensuring students gain exposure to real-world practices and cutting-edge technologies.
Prof Saranjit Singh, KIIT Vice Chancellor said that “this is the first-of-its-kind partnership in India. No engineering institute currently offers specialised courses in tyre manufacturing. It has been my dream to introduce gold-standard specialised electives, and this collaboration finally makes it possible.”
