Bhubaneswar (Odisha Tazanews) Bhubaneswar :- The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) marked a major milestone in veteran welfare with the empanelment of Sunshine Hospital, Bhubaneswar. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed between Colonel K Jaypal, Director ECHS Bhubaneswar, and Dr. Alok Lodh, Chief Executive Officer Sunshine Hospital in the presence of veterans, healthcare professionals, and representatives frorn the local media.
The event was presided over by Brigadier Tejinder Singh Bawa, SM, Commander, Chhattisgarh and Odisha Sub Area (COSA), who attended as the Chief Guest. Brig Bawa emphasised that veterans and their families deserve the highest standards of healthcare and described the empanelment of Sunshine Hospital as a significant step towards bridging healthcare gaps.
He highlighted that such collaborations reflect a collective responsibility to ensure that medical care is delivered with dignity, compassion, and professionalism. He also assured that COSA would extend continued support in strengthening ECHS services and streamlining referral mechanisms.
Colonel K Jaypal, Director ECHS Bhubaneswar, noted that the inclusion of Sunshine Hospital would expand treatment options for veterans in Odisha, particularly in specialised and advanced medical care. He underlined that the empanelment demonstrated ECHS’s ongoing commitment to providing timely, accessible, and quality healthcare, supported through military-civil cooperation.
Director of Sunshine Hospital Dr. PK Sahoo, expressed that empanelment with ECHS was both a privilege and an honour for the institution. Sunshine Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to providing veterans, veer naris, and dependents with the highest standards of care, backed by modern infrastructure, skilled professionals, and a patient-centric ethos.
The hospital leadership assured that compassionate and respectful treatment for the veteran community would remain a top priority. The Director also announced that on the Occasion of world Heart Day on 29 Sep 25. Sunshine Hospital was launching a Healthy Heart Screening Package at affordable rates.
Veterans and veer naris present at the event welcomed the development, expressing confidence that the inclusion of Sunshine Hospital in the ECHS network would improve access to quality healthcare in Bhubaneswar and the wider region.
