Show cause’ notices issued to over 5,000 hospitals : licenses will be cancelled if errors are not rectified

 Pune (Odisha Tazanews) Mumbai  :- In an inspection of 26,354 hospitals in the state, 5,134 hospitals have failed to comply with the Maharashtra Nursing Act. Although it is mandatory to display the necessary information including the tariff list and helpline number on the front page, many hospitals have not fulfilled these requirements. Therefore, the Health Department has issued a ‘show cause’ notice to the concerned hospitals.This inspection, conducted on the orders of Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, has revealed many serious issues. Complaints such as arbitrarily charging treatment costs, not informing patients and relatives about the costs, inadequate facilities, unapproved treatment, and lack of security have been leveled against the hospitals.

License suspended if errors are not corrected within 30 days After the inquiry, the hospitals have been given 30 days to correct the errors. The Health Department clarified that if improvements are not made within this period, the licenses of the concerned hospitals will be cancelled.
