Khordha (Odisha Tazanews) :- Being hailed from infinity, he had in his mind a greater perspective of chastity, compassion and service to the ailing humanity since his childhood. Ultimately he could justify his vision of rendering voluntary and affordable health care to the poor, needy and vulnerable mankind and prove his mission of exposing them to a wider world of social, ethical, cultural, economical and educational equilibrium. He is none but a sober and silent social activist Dr. Surendranath Das, whom people revere a “Saviour” or “God father”.
Since last five decades he has exposed himself in the service of old, destitute, neglected children and women, dalits, divyangs, handicapped people of rural, interior and tribals of Ganjam, Khordha, Nayagarh and Puri districts. He stands a pioneer of pride and poignancy, an epitome of enigma and embodiment, a prophet of progress and perpetuity and an icon of dedication and selfless sacrifice. He abandoned Government job and several lucrative offers and took a resolution to trace out the downtrodden victims reeling under diseases, despair, social trauma and perpetual stigma under his domain of the above said districts.
Since decades he has been actively patronizing voluntary and affordable health care and dedicating himself for their social justice, social security, social transformation, social equality and well being. He has been arranging periodic health camps, awareness campaigns and road shows to arouse a sense of consensus on sporadic, endemic, epidemic and pandemic diseases and against drug abuse, drug trafficking, environmental disaster, child and women abuse, deforestation, social inequality, communal violence, woman atrocity and violation of human rights. As a senior Rotarian he is doing wonders not only in his medical profession but also creating miracles on many socio-cultural platforms as social activist.
Our TOI group felicitated Dr. Das as “WARRIOR OF HOPE” for being a frontline warrior in the battle against CIVID-19 and expressed our deepest gratitude for his vibrant and daring service during the pandemic. His passion as a cultural exponent is highly commendable. He is a renowned playwright, director and singer. His social and medical service has been applauded by several national and international organizations. Few agencies of USA have conferred on him “American Hall of Fame”,
“Outstanding Professional Award” and “Contemporary Black Diamond Award”. Few national organizations from Delhi and Kolkatta have felicitated him with “Doctor of the Millennium Award”, “Eminent Physician Award”, “Lifetime achievement Award”, “Glory of Education Award”, “Bharat Jyoti”, “Bharat Gourav” and “Natya Gourav Awards” His unfathomable social service and explicit professional expertise needs more exposure. Thus TOI family feels that he is an angle behind the gloom.
