Complete road and drainage works by May 31, otherwise action will be taken – Transport Department warns contractors

Pune (Odisha Tazanews) Pune :-> The Transport Department has ordered to speed up the ongoing road repair, asphalting and sewage works in various parts of the city. These works should be completed before the onset of the monsoon, i.e. by May 31, otherwise action will be taken against the concerned contractors, said Amol Zende, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Transport Department.

The Municipal Corporation has entrusted these works to various contractors, for which permission from the Traffic Police is required. However, due to non-completion of these works in many places on time and lack of proper traffic planning, huge traffic jams have arisen in the city.

According to the inspection of the Transport Department, traffic jams have been recorded at 13, 25 and 12 places respectively due to excavations in the months of January, February and March. Due to this, citizens are facing great hardship.

Against this backdrop, the Transport Department has given appropriate instructions to all police inspectors and has ordered to issue notices to the contractors to complete the works on time. Considering the possibility of more problems arising during the monsoon if the roads are not repaired on time, Deputy Commissioner of Police Zende has warned of taking a strict stand on this. Citizens have also been appealed to cooperate for the smooth flow of traffic in the city.
