10 Mar 2025 (Odisha Tazanews) Pune :-> Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh has been provided to citizens. However, due to the lack of participation of hospitals, citizens are facing difficulties in getting the benefits directly.
Currently, only 82 hospitals are included in this scheme in Pune district, out of which only 15 to 16 are private hospitals, so patients are facing great difficulties. The government is repeatedly appealing to get Ayushman Bharat cards, but since the hospitals that operate these cards are insufficient, where should patients get treatment? This question is haunting the citizens.
When will important hospitals be included?
Earlier, there was a limit of income and ration card to avail the benefits of Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. However, now this scheme has been implemented for citizens of any income group. If all the necessary documents are complete, patients can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh.
However, citizens have drawn attention to the fact that major hospitals in the city are not yet included in this. Health rights activists say that efforts need to be made to ensure that the benefits of government schemes are available in the growing network of private hospitals.
Is the scheme not effective ?
Last year, the government added a new list of diseases to these schemes.
Mahatma Phule Yojana includes 996 diseases, and assistance of up to Rs 1.5 lakh is provided.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, 1350 diseases are included, and assistance of up to Rs 3.5 lakh is provided.
However, citizens feel that the schemes are not directly beneficial as these facilities are not available in sufficient hospitals. There is a demand that the government should take immediate steps to spread these schemes widely and include maximum hospitals.
