Tata Steel Holds Dengue Awareness Drive in Joda

22nd September, 2023 (Odisha Tazanews) Joda :->  In a bid to combat spread, and raise awareness about Dengue among the communities, Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) has started a campaign in Joda municipality and its surrounding villages under Jalhari, Jurudi and Jaganj gram panchayats of Keonjhar district. The awareness drive is being conducted through intense fogging, spraying of anti-larva, public address system and distribution of leaflets containing information regarding ‘dos and don’ts’ on dengue. Also, door-to-door source reduction activities aiming to bring down the sources of larval breeding are being conducted. Besides, a dedicated team with the help of Asha and Anganwadi workers has been formed to identify vulnerable communities and mosquito-breeding sites in all the areas and take immediate action to reduce the density of mosquito larvae.

This apart, the communities are being screened for fever and primary treatment is being given by the mobile Public Health Units which operate in the remotest areas of Joda and surrounding areas. During the campaign, the residents and villagers are advised to maintain cleanliness and take preventive measures to restrict the spread of the disease and consult doctor immediately in case of fever or any symptoms related to the vector-borne disease. As part of its social responsibility measure, TSF had recently distributed around 12, 000 mosquito nets in nearby villages of Sargitalia, Guruda, Benuapani, Kundaposi, Bamebari, Palsha Ka & Kha, Nambira, Khondbond, Jurudi and Jajang. TSF aims to create a healthier environment for the communities by addressing various aspects of health and wellness.
